King Fung

King FUNG is a dedicated music educator, conductor, chamber musician and orchestral musician. Fung has been devoted to nurturing the young generation as a music educator. His students pursue professional music careers including being music educators and orchestra musician in Hong Kong Sinfonietta etc.

 

As a music educator, FUNG serves as the conductor and founder of Pui Kiu College Orchestra (Secondary and Primary) and instructor and founder of Pui Kiu College Chinese Orchestra (Secondary and Primary).

 

Orchestral musician engagements include the Macao Orchestra, Claflin Hill Symphony, Melrose Symphony Orchestra, and pop concerts including celebrities like Joey Yung cho-yee, Paul Wong Koon Chung.

 

FUNG received Post-graduate Performance Diploma and Bachelor of Music (Cum Laude), major in viola performance, at the Boston Conservatory with scholarship. He studied viola with Patricia McCarty and Rictor Noren, and chamber music with Max Levinson, Irina Muresanu, Roger Tapping, and Eli Esptein. He has also performed in various solo and chamber masterclasses, including those conducted by Roger Tapping, Roger Benedict, Cathy Basrak, Alan de Veritch, Samuel Rhodes, Sidney Curtiss, Philip Ying, Cynthia Phleps, Nardo Poy, Dov Schindlein, Marcus Thompson, Helen McCallus, Carol Rodland, Mela Tenenbaum and Lydian string quartet.

 

Apart from his passion in violin and viola playing, FUNG is also enthusiastic about orchestral conducting. He has studied conducting with James Orent and Uichi Udagawa.

 

As a chamber musician, FUNG has attended Meadowmount School of Music with scholarship  playing chamber music and performing with musicians including Han Soo Kim (violin) and Patricia McCarty (viola).
